{Your Story}

What was your “low point”? I’m 53, I’ve had numerous highs and lows, but one of my lowest documented points was in my before picture in 2012. I was in my mid-forties, I had a neck injury, perimenopausal and DEPRESSED. Could not exercise at all, couldn’t even lean my head back to wash my thick hair. I was going through the insurance “hooplas” of getting shots in my neck and physical therapy. Finally, I got surgery for my herniated cervical discs.

How did you get started? It took me 46 years (on this Earth) to realize that “Food is Fuel”. You don’t just eat because your stomach is growling, because you’re bored, because you’re craving Popeye’s (I don’t do that anymore); or even, because it’s Dinner Time. Our business was Sona MedSpa in 2012, we were a franchise at that time and Sona corporate came out with a medical weight loss plan. Because I couldn’t exercise, and I was at my lowest point, I was the perfect candidate to try it…I like to say “my gunny sack was full.” I followed the plan which basically showed me and my “spoiled American” self how to eat clean and fuel my body. In 4 weeks, with no exercise (still had disc issue) I lost 11.5 lbs; 5 inches in my waist and 11 percent body fat. Imagine what I could do if I had been exercising!!

What is your workout routine and eating plan? I’m, by far, not perfect, but I do feel like I know a lot more now than I did then (before this journey). I pay attention to what I put in my body and I make sure to exercise at least 3-5 times per week. LiveFIT has brought me to that level. In all fairness, another thing is I did a SculpSure (a permanent fat destruction treatment that we offer at our spa) It is what encouraged me to start LiveFIT. Seeing my results. This is the first time in my adult life I have worked out regularly. And I’m not going back! Plus, I have the BEST friends at LIVEFIT that make me accountable!!

What one piece of advice would you give to someone who is sitting on the sidelines and waiting?
You have one life that you are given. It is your choice. I thought I didn’t “have time” with being a business owner and one kid still at home. It is NOT a is a NECESSITY if you want to be around!
Surround yourself with more people like I did, for example, the ladies at LiveFIT. Post and join the FB LF groups to keep getting positively influenced. Do the challenges! Feed your mind, body and spirit.

Anything else you would like to share? We all put on our pants (or panties hehe) the same way, one leg at a time. Let’s strengthen each other and build each other up. It is easy to just say woe is me or think she’s not dealing with difficult things like I am, but that is not necessarily true. God doesn’t give us more than we can handle. When you are feeling discouraged, the best thing you can do is ENCOURAGE someone else. You’ll never know exactly how much they needed it and how much you are encouraging them! And it’ll make you feel better too 😊
